Given the extraordinary challenges we are all facing during this dynamic and challenging time, Penn State has suspended the June 30th assessment reporting deadline for the 2019-2020 academic year. Programs that have already collected assessment data or were otherwise prepared to submit, and would still like to do so, can still do so. The Assessment Management System Training web page has self-help resources and information on scheduled trainings. Do not hesitate to reach out to your assessment liaison for assistance. Please note: this suspension applies to non-accredited academic programs at the undergraduate, graduate, and certificate levels. Programs with disciplinary accreditation will need to seek guidance from their external agencies; we’re happy to help.
Learning Outcomes Assessment
The goal of the learning outcomes assessment process is to use assessment evidence to improve student learning and ensure students are graduating with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for success in their future careers or studies.
Learning outcomes assessment is required by the University and by our regional accrediting body, the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, because it is a powerful strategy for producing graduates who meet the expectations of a program. Our goal is to provide guidance that will result in, assessment activities that are meaningful and useful to all stakeholders.
The role of the Learning Outcomes Assessment (LOA) team within the Office of Planning and Assessment (OPA) is to partner with faculty and administrators at all levels of the University to oversee and support assessment activities for undergraduate and graduate degrees, certificates, and General Education. LOA also supports undergraduate disciplinary and multi-campus programs in their efforts to align programs taught at multiple Penn State locations.
For more information, one-on-one consultations, facilitation, presentations and customized workshops tailored to the needs of campuses, colleges or degree programs, contact email@example.com or your LOA Liaison.
