Alex Serpi

Assistant Director of Assessment Research

Alex Serpi is an Assistant Director for Assessment Research in the Office Of Planning, Assessment, and Institutional Research.  She supports faculty, program coordinators, and administrators across Penn State to develop and execute plans to assess student learning in undergraduate and graduate programs, certificates, and general education. She also helps to coordinate, administer, and analyze University-wide assessments in areas of institutional focus. She enjoys tackling complicated datasets and using visualizations to make the information more accessible.

Prior to joining OPAIR in 2022, Alex worked as an IT project manager to study the ways technology impacts teaching and learning. She worked with University administrators and faculty to assess programming, resources, and community sentiments. Alex has also worked as a biotech analyst and R-1 researcher, where she developed skills in process evaluation, regulatory compliance, research design.

Alex earned her bachelor’s degree at Franklin & Marshall College and her doctoral degree in Biology at Penn State. Outside of the office, Alex is pursuing her enjoyment of life-long learning with the Pennsylvania State Master Gardener program.
