Submit your report

Annual assessment reports are due every year on June 30th.

Programs need to submit a report even if they don’t have any findings to report.

The goal of program assessment is to continually assess and improve student learning. Annual reports provide evidence that your program is participating in this University-required activity. Submitting a report gives programs the opportunity to receive formative feedback on their assessment practices from a team of dedicated assessment professionals. Annual reports are also necessary to comply with accreditation standards set by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE).

If you have followed all the steps in this handbook, the only remaining thing for you to do is to “submit” in Nuventive before June 30th.  A complete report contains the following:

Parts of a Complete Report
Program Learning Objectives (PLOs)

Statements that clearly and specifically describe the knowledges, skills, and abilities that you want your students to be able to demonstrate upon completion from your program. At least one PLO must be assessed each year.

Curriculum or Milestone Map A table that links your program learning objectives (PLOs) to courses or milestones in your program. The intersection of each course and PLO, indicates if students are expected to meaningfully Encounter, Practice, or Master the PLO during the course.
Assessment Methods This includes where to collect evidence, what will be collected and how, and a performance target. Every PLO needs at least one method, but an exemplary strategy employs both direct and indirect measures. If only a single method is used, it should incorporate a direct measure of learning.
Related documents
You can store additional documents in Nuventive to make them easier to share with future Assessment Leaders and to receive custom feedback from Assessment Liaisons. Any noted rubrics, assignments, or evidence collection tools (surveys, test questions) should be related to your Assessment Method.
Findings

Summary of findings and an interpretation of their meaning and implications. This includes indicating if the performance target was met, not met, or inconclusive. Where applicable, include interpretation around the specific effects of classes and activities where evidence was collected.

If your program does not have any findings, you still need to submit a report, provide a status update, and create a plan for the next year. Contact your Assessment Liaison If you need support.

Action Plan
If your program has decided to implement changes based on your assessment findings, you should record the details here (e.g., approximate dates of implementation and where in curriculum they will occur.) If change aren’t necessary, you can should note that here.
Assessment Impact If your program previously implemented any modifications based on assessment findings that you have not previously reported on, you should report the impacts of those changes. This includes a rational for the change, a description of the change, and the impact of the change. It can be helpful to review from previous reports in Nuventive to remember changes.
Assessment Plan
At minimum, a plan for the next year is required. However, OPAIR recommends that programs create a 5-year timeline.
